TRANSITIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – TAP
A Fresh Start, Furnished With Care
The Transitional Assistance Program (TAP) supports individuals and families in Santa Barbara County facing crisis or major life transitions: homelessness, eviction, natural disasters, domestic violence, sudden job loss, medical emergencies, or moving from temporary shelter into permanent housing.
Clients can receive small furniture, kitchenware, dishes, linens, bedding, towels, and small appliances. Participants may also receive groceries, clothing, and hygiene products through the Client Services Center, all in one location.
TAP operates entirely through donated items and community support. Nothing is purchased for this program. Every shelf reflects neighbors helping neighbors.
Unity Shoppe’s Transitional Assistance Program works with more than 400 collaborating agencies, schools, shelters, healthcare providers, and veterans’ organizations to reach the families who need it.
TAP often serves families transitioning out of homelessness, seniors on fixed incomes, survivors of domestic violence, individuals recovering from illness, and families impacted by fires or floods.
Every client shops with dignity, choosing the items that fit their family’s needs.
TAP helps turn an empty apartment into a home.
