Shop With Dignity at the Free Store
Unity Shoppe’s Client Services Program provides groceries, clothing, and essential household items to individuals and families experiencing temporary hardship throughout Santa Barbara County.
Clients shop in a welcoming, grocery store-style environment and choose the items that meet their family’s needs. Fresh produce, dairy, proteins, pantry staples, baked goods, personal care products, household essentials, and clothing are all available. Choice preserves self-esteem and helps families keep a sense of normalcy during hard times.
In 2025, Unity Shoppe served more than 56,000 individuals.
Food Rescue Program
Unity Shoppe participates in the Santa Barbara County Food Rescue Program. Drivers collect surplus food from partners including Vons, Whole Foods, Target, Albertsons, Jordano’s, Tri-County Produce, Montecito Village Market, Renaud’s, and local farms five mornings each week. Much of it reaches clients within hours. Partnerships with the Santa Barbara Foodbank and Direct Relief add USDA food commodities and essential health and hygiene products.
More than 400 referral agencies connect families to Unity Shoppe, including schools, healthcare providers, shelters, veterans’ programs, and faith-based organizations.
